A particularly worthwhile and rewarding project! This is a partially finished example of the very popular 4″ scale Burrell Traction Engine kit, supplied new by respected makers of kits, Steam Traction World.

This kit has everything you might need including instructions, an original boiler certificate, some paint and more. Whilst we have not expressly checked every part for completeness, there is nothing obvious missing and the original builder had purchased and included every kit.

Key Features:

• Welded Steel boiler built by Steam Traction World. It is not yet advanced enough for us to include any boiler inspections within the sale however full documentation is included in the sale.
• Two-speed, single cylinder arrangement. Slide valve actuated by Stephenson’s linkage.
• Mechanical, crank driven water pump and injector when complete.
• Ramsbottom type pressure release valves.
• Mechanically, Steam Traction World are known for their high quality finish. Many large parts have already been completed in this project but there is still plenty for the prospective buyer to enjoy. The major built has very much been loosely assembled for a check of fit – we anticipate any buyer would want to deconstruct it prior to starting again to check what has been done so far.
• Cosmetically, it is painted to a good standard so far. There is a tin of Craftmaster paint included to start the buyer off and for a colour match.
• The original builder took a lot of care with the work so far and has gone above and beyond in many cases. Many parts have been plated and prepared with care – it is on track to be a very nice example.
• The wheels are fitted with rubber tyres – the rear is vulcanised.

Overall, a pleasant project which will no doubt be rewarding to undertake – a great start, a significant saving compared to buying the kits brand new and the opportunity to push ahead with the project without waiting for the next kit.
