Offered for sale is this project example of the larger and more impressive 4 1/2″ scale Burrell traction engine to the Live Steam Models design. This project is very much in its early days however the inclusion of a professionally made, steel boiler alongside a range of major castings and a few fabricated parts puts the builder ahead of any external waiting lists meaning they can proceed at their leisure.

There are no drawings or further parts included outside of those photographed however the boiler documention is included and correct – matching the plate on the boiler itself too. The drawings and further castings are available from Live Steam Models.

Key Features:

• The welded steel boiler is as new with the correct paperwork in place. It is of the high standard you would expect of AJB Engineering. Our only comment is that we have not seen the mudhole door amongst the parts so a replacement would need to be sourced.
• A single cylinder arrangement with a slide valve actuated by a Stephenson’s linkages. It is a two-speed, agricultural design although the 4 1/2″ scale comes out as a large and impressive miniature.
• Work so far has been conducted to a reasonable standard although is minimal.

Overall, a great start to a project with plenty of potential and a chance to avoid some long waiting lists at a good price!
