A particularly worthwhile and rewarding, entry-level project! This is a partially finished example of the very popular 2″ scale Burrell Traction Engine kit, supplied new by respected makers of kits, Steam Traction World.
This kit has everything you might need including instructions, an original boiler certificate, paint and more. Whilst we have not expressly checked every part for completeness, there is nothing obvious missing and the previous owner did conduct that onerous task to report all was present and correct!
Key Features:
- Copper boiler built by Steam Traction World. It is not yet advanced enough for us to include any boiler inspections within the sale.
- Two-speed, single cylinder arrangement. Slide valve actuated by Stephenson’s linkage.
- Mechanical, crank driven water pump and injector when complete.
- Ramsbottom type pressure release valves.
- Mechanically, Steam Traction World are known for their high quality finish. Many large parts have already been completed in this project but there is still plenty for the prospective buyer to enjoy.
- Cosmetically, it is painted to a high standard so far. Inevitably, moving workshops means there is the odd chip and scuff in the existing paint however there is a box of craftmaster paint to help put the buyer on the right line with finishing the project.
- The wheels are fitted with rubber tyres. When finished, this engine would be large enough to drive around on hard, flat ground (we have even seen one or two registered for road use over the years!). It will be a pretty miniature with a good level of detail.
Overall, a pleasant project which will certainly keep the buyer busy over the colder months and could even be out ready for the 2025 season!
Delivery can be organised via the pallet network to all UK addresses and worldwide. Delivery within the UK starts from £100 + VAT for postage and packaging – please speak to us for further options. At risk of something going missing in transit, we would recommend prospective buyers consider collecting in person where possible!
