We have been commissioned to advertise for sale this nicely presented Lykamobile Steam Car. This is a Lykamobile Steamer Series 2 which Steam Traction World re-introduced due to a high demand of customer requests after the popular Series 1 production had finished.
The Series 2 had a number of improvements over its predecessor which included a ‘beefier’ valve gear, valve gear running on bearings, use of oil impregnated bushes throughout, and stronger leaf springs.
Specifications of the Lykamobile are as follows:
– Tubular steel fabrication chassis, combination weld, bolted and silver solder.
– “Ackerman” design tiller steering.
– Spur gear differential similar to the original Locomobile, drive shaft and bearings.
– Single tube pneumatic tyres, treaded.
– Disc brake system.
– Engine with 2 ¼” diameter, 3″ stroke modified “Hackworth” valve gear.
– Twin mechanical water pump feed.
– Burner: Fuelled by kerosene or diesel. It fires reliably and raises steam quickly.
– Multi Fire Tube Boiler, fully constructed and complete with necessary paperwork and inspected by a notified body. The paperwork also includes the full build instructions and a V5C.
– Wooden with steel frame bodywork.
– Seating capacity of 2 persons, with turned decorative spindles and leather style upholstery.
– Forward and reverse gears.
– Manufactured on modern CNC machines for build accuracy and high quality.
Overall, a smart and well-presented steam car which has been recently built and thus in excellent condition. The lucky owner is bound to have a lot of fun being out and about on this!
