A fine example of the increasingly popular 9″ scale Foden Steam Lorry, offered for sale on behalf of the owner from our premises near Exeter. Built originally from 1995 using a boiler made by H. Maskell & Son, it was last retubed in 2019. It is a well-presented lorry, and the sale includes a good deal of equipment needed to give the buyer everything they need to head straight to the rally field.
Key Features:
- The welded steel boiler was made by respected boiler makers, H. Maskell & Son in 1995. It includes full documentation. The latest report was conducted in May 2023. Whilst sound, it was noted that the firebox crown thickness (min of 6.3mm) should be monitored. Otherwise, it was a comprehensive and thorough report which provides plenty of information about the boiler. Feel free to speak to us about boiler testing options going forward.
- A twin-cylinder, 3-speed arrangement with slide valves actuated by Stephenson’s linkages running at 150PSI.
- Mechanical water pump and steam injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard.
- Mechanical lubricator, twin displacement lubricators, and pressure release valves with a steam siren. The motion and gears are covered by standard, Foden-style covers.
- Built to a high standard throughout and clearly well maintained over the years.
- The paint is very good with excellent lining all over. It benefits from including a loading bay canvas cover.
- It has lighting all around and a battery/alternator set up for 12v power.
- The wheels are on pneumatic tyres and it is road registered with a V5C. A superb candidate for road use being large enough to have road presence but small enough to be agile. The shortened body, compared to the standard C-Type, also makes this a more manageable option.
- Includes a half-day tuition session, if requested by the buyer.
