Offered for sale is this appealing 4″ scale Ruston Proctor built using the well-known kits supplied by Winson Model Technology in July 2000. This design has been available in many guises over the years however the kit from Winson has always been recognised as a less-attractive but more robust version, offering plenty of potential for a model engineer (experienced or not!) to make their mark on it. We don’t think this one has seen loads of use however it has been steamed in its life.
Key Features:
- Welded Steel Boiler commercially made by Winson Model Technology. It looks in good order. It has full documentation and can be offered inclusive of up to date boiler testing. The engine is accompanied by a thick folder including the original build instructions.
- Two-speed, single cylinder arrangement. Slide valve actuated by Stephenson’s linkage.
- Mechanical water pump and injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard. It is also fitted with a tender mounted hand pump and tender sight glass.
- Mechanical lubricator, steam whistle and pressure release valves.
- Mechanically, the engine has been built to an acceptable standard. This specific kit was never considered particularly refined from a model engineering perspective however makes for a perfectly functional and showable miniature.
- Cosmetically, there is room for improvement. The paintwork applied is of relatively low quality and the builder decided to leave the cladding unpainted. It cleans up reasonably nicely and makes for a nice display but the new owner may wish to make it their own!
- The wheels are fitted with rubber tyres.
Overall, a great, entry-level miniature which will come inclusive of our standard warranty against larger issues and fresh boiler testing, if requested. It is a good size with plenty of potential offering buying fun in steam but also something to keep them busy in the colder months in the workshop or shed making it their own!
