Miniature Road Steam

Presented for sale we have this 4” scale Ruston Proctor which is a good example and an ideal starter engine. Unfortunately the early history of it is unknown as we presume the paperwork must’ve gone astray at some point however it has a series of boiler reports from the seller’s ownership dating back to his purchase in c. 2015. This design has been offered by a number of companies in both kit form and as castings over the years – we presume this is a castings built engine, potentially to Live Steam Model’s design.

Key Features:

• Welded steel boiler made by an unknown maker. It is supported by a history of boiler reports dating back to 2015. Feel free to contact us to find out about the boiler testing options going forward.
• Working pressure 90 PSI.
• Two-speed, single cylinder arrangement. It is a lightweight design based on the diminutive 3 ½ ton SD tractor.
• Mechanical water pump and injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard.
• Mechanical foster lubricator, whistle and pressure release valves.
• Mechanically, the engine has been built to an acceptable standard throughout. It is showing signs of age however looks presentable and turns over freely. It will, of course, be checked for running prior to leaving our workshop with the buyer.
• Cosmetically, the paintwork isn’t the finest we have seen but suits the style of engine. It is presented in the typical brown livery of the Ruston tractor – this has been hand painted and shows brush marks. Having said that, it is certainly presentable and cleans up nicely – certainly showable and one to enjoy either as it is or after a winter of painting in the workshop.
• The wheels are mounted on rubber tyres. It is also fitted with a canopy which adds to its charm.

Overall, a pleasant engine which is a step above the standard 3” scale traction engine and is priced to give the buyer some scope to make it their own!
