Offered for sale is this beautifully presented 4″ scale Orcop Yeoman portable, built to the design by John Haining, published in the early 1990s. We have seen this one before and have always been impressed by the quality of its construction. The design is 4″ scale but the prototype would’ve been small (possibly 3 or 4NHP) so it comes out as a very small example of the scale. For dimensions, please see the bottom of the listing.
Key Features:
- Steel boiler from a non-commercial but documented welder. Sufficient paperwork is in place to continue using it correctly. Our commercial boiler inspector conducted a 10-yearly hydraulic examination in December 2023 meaning, before it leaves us, we would offer to provide the buyer with a new steam test within the asking price.
- Single cylinder arrangement. Single direction, simplistic steam engine.
- Mechanical, crank driven water pump. Also comes with an external hand pump mounted on a board.
- Locomotive type pressure release valve, dummy governor and Foster-style mechanical lubricator.
- Mechanically, the engine has been built to a high standard throughout. It has been maintained well and is in good condition for this type of miniature.
- Cosmetically, it is painted in a simplistic green. The typical A-frame has been replaced by a pleasant wooden setup for horses (very small horses mind!) and the accompanying board has astroturf and a stainless water tank for display.
- The wheels are metal spoked and look smart.
Overall, a delightful small portable engine. It is accompanied by appropriate paperwork and drawings.
