For sale we have this nicely made 4” scale Foster traction engine with a crane attachment. A tried and tested miniature design with a pleasant twist; this example was built in 2002 using a commercially made boiler. It is now showing signs of age but there is still lots of fun to be had with it before it needs any serious work.
Key Features:
- Welded steel boiler commercially made by Franklin & Bell, with all associated paperwork included. It has only recently had a replacement set of boiler tubes. Please speak to us about boiler testing options going forward.
- Working pressure 120 PSI.
- Two-speed, single cylinder arrangement with Stephenson’s valve gear and a fully operational crane attachment.
- Mechanical water pump and injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard.
- Mechanical lubricator, and Ramsbottom type pressure release valves.
- Mechanically, the engine has been built to an acceptable standard throughout. It is showing signs of wear but remains acceptable with some fettling.
- Cosmetically, the paintwork is a simplistic blue in its working clothes.
- The wheels are mounted on rubber types for smooth operation on hard ground.
- Registered for road use with a current V5C.
Overall, a good engine which will no doubt give the buyer many hours of enjoyment.
