Miniature Road Steam

An example of the very popular 4″ scale Burrell single cylinder traction engine, as supplied to the builder in kit form from Steam Traction World. This one has a boiler dated 2019 and looks to have seen very little use since build completion in c. 2022.

Key Features:

• The welded steel boiler was commercially made by Steam Traction World in 2019 and is accompanied by full documents. We would be happy to include a new commercial boiler inspection including a 10-yearly hydraulic test and 14 monthly in-steam/internal examination.  The paperwork also includes a set of Steam Traction World instructions.
• A single-cylinder, 2-speed arrangement with a slide valve actuated by a Stephenson’s linkage.
• Mechanical water pump and steam injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard. Also fitted with a hand pump (not photographed).
• 4-chime steam whistle, mechanical lubricator, and pressure release valves, as expected. Also fitted with a set of dummy governors and a water lifter.
• Well-built to a good standard throughout, consistent with engines build using kits provided by Steam Traction World. Having seen very little use, there is virtually no wear on the motion or gears.
• The paintwork is acceptable for a hobby build – it is not the best but is certainly presentable. It is a simplistic livery and could readily be improved with some basic lining.
• The wheels are fitted with rubber tyres for use on hard ground. It is registered for road use and fitted with an independent seat.
• Includes a half-day tuition session, if requested by the buyer. 

Overall, a nicely presented, very honest Burrell traction engine which has a long life ahead of it!
