A good, working example of the very popular 4 1/2″ scale Foden Steam Lorry – and arguably one of the most affordable ways of being able to enjoy miniature steam with a third speed and two cylinders! We have seen this example before here at Berrybrook and it has always been an honest, hardworking engine which has been looked after and good for road and rally field. Built originally using kits from Steam Traction World in around 2013.
Key Features:
- The welded steel boiler was made by respected boiler makers, Steam Traction World, in 2013. It includes full documentation and we would be happy to include a new commercial boiler inspection if requested – feel free to speak to us about this one. The boiler itself is sound.
- A twin-cylinder (non-compound), 3-speed arrangement with slide valves actuated by Stephenson’s linkages.
- Mechanical water pump and steam injector fitted for filling the boiler when in steam, as standard.
- Twin Foster-type mechanical lubricators, and pressure release valves with a whistle.
- Built to a good standard throughout. It has been maintained well but is showing its age a little offering some room for improvement but it is generally smart and nicely presented.
- The paint is good and in keeping with the design and style. It is a little scruffy in places but cleans up nicely and looks the part.
- The wheels are on pneumatic tyres which means it goes well! It is registered with a V5C.
- Includes a half-day tuition session, if requested by the buyer.
Overall, a pleasant engine which is great fun to steam and drive!
