Miniature Road Steam

Offered for sale is this remarkably unusual interpretation of Robin Dyer’s 2″ scale Clayton Lorry. Typically constructed as a vertical boilered engine with an enclosed, undertype engine; we believe this builder has decided to make use of the superb offerings from Stuart Models and similar firms including a boiler, vertical type engine and dymano. Of unknown age, it is impressively built and makes for a fascinating ‘show lorry’. The details are intricate with a high level of attention to detail throughout.

Key Features:

• The copper boiler looks to be of Stuart Models or a similar design. It is accompanied by no paperwork which doesn’t tend to cause an issue with copper constructed boilers, as long as they of sound construction. It is nicely made – feel free to speak to us about boiler testing options moving forward.
• A twin-cylinder vertical engine. It is the Stuart D10 and has been made to a high standard. It is fitted with reversing gear along with a governor and displacement lubricator. It drives a gearbox which appears to have either a single gear or neutral for stationary running.
• Mechanical water pump and a hand pump for filling the boiler when running.
• Steam whistle, mechanical lubricator, and locomotive type pressure release valve.
• Well-built to a high standard throughout. It looks to have very little wear. Many of the intricate details are simple ingenious!
• The paintwork is good with signs of age in places. It is generally smart and polishes up well!
• Fitted with a dynamo plated as being from RE Thompson & Co Ltd. It runs a modest lighting set inside the removable cab.
• Solid rubber tyres fitted for use on hard ground.

Overall, a remarkable miniature with a number of intriguing details and which has been nicely finished.
