A very honest, recently repainted example of a 5″ gauge Simplex to the design by Martin Evans.
It is fitted with a silver-soldered copper boiler which has historically been tested by the previous owner’s model club. In 2016, Maxitrak also conducted a formal hydraulic inspection which was passed. The boiler was tested to the pressure of 120PSI for the working pressure of 80PSI. It has a capacity of 3 litres and appears to be well made.
Generally speaking, this 0-6-0 is a smart, well-made machine with attention given to the smaller details all over. It is fitted with a hand pump, mechanical lubricator and loco-type pressure release valves. The cab is tidy and presents it as a usable locomotive. The motion work appears to be in good order, with a small amount of wear in places, but nothing we would consider unacceptable.
As with any locomotive we sell, we are happy to check them over in our workshops which usually includes an informal hydraulic test followed by a mock, club-style in steam test. We don’t offer the full warranty services as we do with our miniature road engines, but we can reassure buyers that we are candid with explaining the condition and that our experience with road steam engines reflects into the occasional locomotive that we offer for sale. This does not affect your statutory rights as a buyer.
Viewings in steam are welcome at our premises near Exeter. Alternatively, UK-wide and international shipping is possible.
