We are delighted to offer for sale, on behalf of the owner, the impressive Fowler 8NHP ‘Duke of Rutland’ of 1902.
No. 9475 was supplied new to Australia as a 3-speed, sprung traction engine, fitted with a crane. It spent its working life near Sydney carrying out a range of jobs, including grain hauling and ploughing. In 1978, it was shipping to the UK where it was subsequently rebuilt to the Showman’s specification presented in today. In more recent years, it has been well looked after with a professional boiler overhaul in the early 2000s as well as generally being kept in good order.
Today, it is offered for sale including a new 10-yearly hydraulic certificate and clean bill of health from the boiler inspector. It stands out as an nicely presented, 8NHP Showman’s Road Locomotive which generates well and drives well on the road.
As with any traction engine or locomotive purchase, we always encourage prospective buyers seek the services of an independent inspector to review the boiler to satisfy themselves of the condition prior to purchase.
