An honest and largely original example of the BSA A65 twin, dated from 1964. This example doesn’t include much paperwork however the V5C is present after having been reallocated in 1998. It doesn’t look to have been heavily restored at any stage with many original features.
The paint and chrome on this example look nice and original with that old motorcycle patina you would expect to see on a 60 year old BSA! It still bears the original supplying dealer plate on the rear mudguard which reads ‘Supplied by J. J. Double (Motorcycles) Ltd ESSEX’.
The BSA A65 was well-respected in its time; the Thunderbolt being differentiated by being fitted with a single carburettor. Despite, this, when new the Thunderbolt was deigned to cruise at 70mph and reach top speeds around 100mph. This example is a little scruffy around the edges but we are confident, with a little tweaking, would be more than capable of being enjoyed for many more miles on the open road! We are marketing it as a slight project which will run and drive but on the advice that the buyer should be willing to conduct their own work to return it to its best – it is offered at a reduced price in recognition of this.
Being over 40 years old, it benefits from being tax and MOT exempt so would be an easily, relatively inexpensive way of getting into classic motorcycle ownership! Overall, an honest bike and available for viewings at our showroom near Exeter.
