Boiler Test Day 2020
Our miniature steam boiler test day is scheduled to take place on 18th March 2020 at our premises near Exeter.
Every year at Berrybrook Steam & Classics we hold a ‘Miniature Steam Boiler Test Day’ where owners of miniature traction engines and related steam are invited to our premises to have their annual boiler test completed by our external boiler tester in a friendly atmosphere amongst other engine owners. It is a good opportunity to have a day off work for some friendly steam engine use and a chance to have a look around the premises whilst working with the inspector to carry out the boiler testing required.
If you wish to book your engine in for the day, and for prices, please RSVP as soon as you can to Sean or Matt at Berrybrook Steam on 01392 833301. Alternatively, please email [email protected].
This day is for the internal cold inspection and the subsequent steam test, typically carried out every 12 or 14 months. If your engine is in need of a hydraulic test, please give us a call in advance to discuss the options. On the day, our staff simply act as a base; helping where needed, supplying any tools as required and, most importantly, bringing out a steady flow of tea and coffee. This arrangement works out as a very cost effective way of having your engine tested through us as we will only charge for the boiler testing with no added labour, as long as you are steaming and presenting the engine as requested from you by the inspector on the day. If you unable to attend the day but still wish for your engine to attend and be tested, we will have to charge our staff labour costs – contact for details; do bear in mind however that this service is available at any time of year.
Any miniature engine owners are welcome. If you plan to travel to us the day before or wish to stay the night after, give us a call about storage options and recommendations for local hotels and B&Bs.
